Policy #44: Program Advisory Committee
44.1 Academic Policies and Bylaws
The primary mandate of the Program Advisory Committee is to provide a forum for Institute faculty, supervisors and students to debate ideas and concepts leading to the development of Academic Policies. In addition to policy development and review, the Program Advisory Committee monitors the implementation of Academic Policies, recommends the future direction of Institute programming, and identifies significant trends in art therapy, education, and society, and with the implications for the Institute.
44.2 Policy
The Program Advisory Committee shall fulfill the purposes and functions as identified in the bylaws.
44.3 Purpose and Function of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC)
- To review CiiAT academic policies
- Initiate, develop, and review policies that affect the learning structure and organization
- The PAC may make comments and suggestions to the Directors concerning academic policies.
- To measure and evaluate program effectiveness
- To review educational guidelines for art therapy training programs.
- To evaluate students’ course satisfaction and achievements.
- To review the Director’s recommendations regarding general degree requirements
- To evaluate and determine the transfer of credits for diploma graduates, for masters students, and for students transferring into the diploma program.
- To examine academic standards and requirements for admission, progress, evaluation, and graduation
- Overview of programs
- To participate in faculty evaluation and to be represented on an interview committee for faculty positions
- To identify significant issues in art therapy, education, and society, and determine the implications and roles for the Institution
44.4 Membership
The Program Advisory Committee membership is not related to the institution. This means the Institution cannot directly or indirectly control or influence the members, and the members cannot control or influence the Institution. Each PAC must also include an Institution staff member who serves as secretary. The Program Advisory Committee may form committees as required.
