Administrative Conflict of Interest Policy

Policy #7: Administrative Conflict of Interest

7.1 Purpose

CiiAT is dedicated to maintaining a transparent and impartial relationship between students and the institution. A conflict of interest occurs when personal, financial, or other considerations have the potential to compromise or bias the professional judgment and actions of our faculty, staff, or directors. It is the responsibility of all CiiAT personnel to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest to the institution promptly.

7.2 Student Protections

7.2.1 Fair Treatment:

Students shall not be treated differently, either favorably or unfavorably, based on any conflict of interest involving CiiAT faculty, staff, or administration. The institution upholds a strict policy of impartiality in all academic and administrative decisions affecting students.

7.2.2 Disclosure Requirements:

CiiAT faculty, staff, and directors are required to disclose any conflict of interest that could impact their professional responsibilities, particularly those that could influence decisions regarding student admissions, assessments, grading, placements, or any other aspect of the student experience.
Disclosure must be made to the appropriate institutional authority, ensuring that measures are taken to mitigate any potential impact on students.

7.2.3 Conflict Management:

Upon disclosure, CiiAT will take necessary steps to manage and resolve the conflict of interest. This may include reassigning duties, providing additional oversight, or taking other actions to safeguard the interests of the students and the integrity of the institution.
If a conflict of interest cannot be adequately managed, the involved party may be recused from decision-making processes related to the affected students.

7.2.4 Student Recourse:

Students who believe they have been subjected to unfair treatment due to a conflict of interest have the right to report their concerns through the Student Dispute Resolution process. The confidentiality of students who report concerns will be protected to the extent possible, consistent with the need to investigate and address the issue.
