Our mission is to provide quality art psychotherapy education and accessible clinical services
CiiAT (pronounced see-at )
CiiAT – The Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy is the proprietorship of The Proulx Global Education and Community Foundation a leading not-for-profit organization in virtual art therapy education and clinical services.
The cornerstone of our institution is our accredited post-graduate diploma program; the Art Psychotherapy Diploma has been built on current and inclusive education, theories, and clinical placement practice, leading graduates to the professional designation of Professional Art Therapist with the Canadian Art Therapy Association, and the designation of Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Our graduates go on to have fulfilling careers in hospitals, clinics, schools, community centres, private practice, and more.
With a commitment to client care and capacity building, CiiAT also offers a range of professional development courses and provides uniquely creative organizational development events to teams within and outside the field of mental health.
As a registered not-for-profit society, CiiAT’s community programs are funded by grants and generous community partners. The Virtual Art Therapy Clinic currently relies on private donations to provide individual and group therapy sessions to clients of all ages and stages of life.
We are grateful to the Board of Directors of the Proulx Global Education and Community Foundation for their never-ending support and commitment.
Our mission is to spread awareness of the healing effects of art therapy and to help train professionals in the practice.
A global perspective is at the core of our curriculum. No matter what topic you study, every course will help you become more culturally fluid and aware. We combine theory and practice in our accessible classes. While we offer in-person programs, our virtual classrooms are at the heart of our unique learning experience.
Virtual Learning
Our virtual classrooms are conducted in real-time, which allows students to interact with their instructors and classmates from wherever there is reliable Internet access. Assignments and documents are made available through our Learning Management System.
CiiAT strives to be a community of equity and inclusion by welcoming students from many backgrounds and diverse cultures, creating space for all voices to be heard.
Follow your art
Our students are curious, culturally-diverse, and passionate.
They know a career in art therapy is more than just a job – it is a lifetime of learning and creativity, of exploration and the unknown, and of guiding others to where they want to be.
Follow your art. Let it lead you to healing.
