CiiAT – The Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy (a proprietorship of The Proulx Global Education and Community Foundation – a registered not-for-profit) is a Registered Institution regulated by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training in British Columbia, Canada.
This Ministry’s mandate is to:

  • Ensure Institutions meet the requirements and standards for certification;
  • Maintain a Private Training Institution Directory of all certified institutions and the programs they provide, along with formerly certified institutions;
  • Provide student protection and oversee the Student Tuition Protection Fund.

Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA)

CiiAT’s Art Psychotherapy Diploma is a recognized program the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA).  All recognized programs have been audited by CATA and have been determined to meet the rigorous education standards.

CATA’s mission is to be the Canadian voice of Art Therapy. CATA brings together art therapists and works alongside provincial art therapy associations to uphold professional standards in the interest of public safety and trust while advancing the profession.

COLLEGE OF REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPISTS OF ONTARIO       (CRPO)

The College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) requires a master’s-level program central to the practice of psychotherapy for registration. This can be a master’s degree or an equivalent graduate diploma that requires completion of a bachelor’s-level program for admission. The program must provide training in the Entry-to-Practice Competencies.

Recognized programs have submitted detailed applications to demonstrate that they meet the minimum education requirements for registration. CiiAT’s Art Psychotherapy Diploma is proud to be a recognized program with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

The mission of CRPO is to develop standards and procedures to regulate psychotherapists while striving to ensure competent and ethical practice within a professional accountability framework.

The Proulx Global Education and Community Foundation, the parent not-for-profit society of CiiAT, is proud to support communities in Canada and around the world with innovative mental health strategies. We partner with local organizations in rural, remote, and underserved areas. Through these partnerships, we build capacity to heal trauma in children, youth and families experiencing mental illness and attachment disorders.

The Proulx Global Education and Community Foundation is registered in BC Canada and in good standing with the Societies Act of BC. 

Our Mission is to train qualified, culturally sensitive, and responsive art therapists, to provide affordable and accessible clinical services, to provide individual and community development through visual and expressive arts.
